Excellence Awards 2022

Introduction: Introducing an Excellence Award to recognise and celebrate excellence and improvement across the service. It has been proven that staff who feel appreciated remain happy, motivated, and engaged and will keep high productivity levels. This, in turn, will also aid in providing a better service for the public while helping to spread best practices across the government. 

Criteria: The award scheme is designed to reward those who continuously excel in all critical areas of their jobs and consistently demonstrate exceptional performance. The general criteria are as follows:

  • Individuals/ departments who invest in skills and show strengthened leadership
  • Individuals/ departments who find new ways to solve issues to deliver for the public
  • Individuals/ departments that provide outstanding customer service
  • Individuals/departments that facilitate collaborations
  • Individuals/ departments that present and implement innovative ideas to improve departments/working environments/ conditions/ processes 
  • Individuals/ departments that promote well-being in the workplace

Awards: The nominations for awards come from colleagues or heads of departments. Anyone submitting a nomination must fill in the relevant form and send it to excellence.awards@gibraltar.gov.gi

Winners will be announced at an annual ceremony with a trophy and certificate presentation. There will be three awards;

  1. Department - Project Achievement Award – This award recognises a department that has launched and executed a project that benefits the service enormously. To be considered, the department or other departments can nominate by filling in the form. As this is the first event of its kind, the application can be on a project launched in the past three years (2020, 2021, or 2022). However, in the future, this will focus on projects undertaken in the past year.   
  2. Individual - Rising Star Award – This award recognises an individual's potential, professionalism, and work ethic within the first five years since joining the. Candidates should be nominated by colleagues or their Head of Department. 
  3. Individual - Inspirational Leadership Award – This award recognises individuals for setting direction, communicating and collaborating clearly, and empowering colleagues to fulfil their potential. The award is open to all grades. Candidates should be nominated by colleagues or their Head of Department.
