The Legislation Support Unit [LSU] works in close consultation with Ministers and Government departmental officials and is responsible for the drafting of most domestic, international and EU legislation which is subsequently passed by the House of Assembly.
The Unit also functions as a dissemination centre for all EU directives, consultation documents, etc. and helps Government departments and the general public with advice and information on all Gibraltar’s legislation.

The weekly publication of the Gibraltar Gazette and all its supplements is also a major responsibility of the Department. This official mouthpiece of the Government contains all Government Notices, Government appointments, Bills, Ordinances, Legal Notices, etc.

The latest responsibility of the Department, working in co-operation with the “Information Technology and Logistics Department”, is the production and maintenance of the Laws of Gibraltar Website. the LSU publishes electronically all the legislation currently in force in Gibraltar and up-dates this legislation on a weekly basis. This database provides legal practitioners and the general public with an invaluable legal resource.
