GCSE Results

The high standards achieved by our Secondary Schools and the College of Further Education in GCSE examinations in recent years have been maintained once again this year with an overall pass rate of 66% (A* - C). These results are well above the national average in UK (61.2%).

Similarly our percentages of A grades (29% in Bayside and 22% in Westside) are higher than the 18.4% in the UK.

Special mention must be made of Luke Perera who obtained ten A stars and has been commended by the AQA Board for scoring one of the top five marks among all AQA candidates in UK in each of the Sociology, History and English Literature examinations (there were 47,222 candidates for these exams). The Minister for Education, Dr Bernard Linares has commented that he is very pleased with all these results which demonstates the high standard of our Education system and has congratulated all successful students and their teachers.
