2000-2006 Interreg IIIB – Western Mediterranean Basic (MEDOC) Programme

The participating Member States are Spain (Andalucia, Murcia, C Valenciana, Cataluna, Baleares, Aragon, Ceuta, Melilla), France (Languedoc-Roussillon, PACA, Rhone-Alpes, Corse), Italy (Piemonte, Lombarida, Liguria, Toscana, Umbria, Lazio, Campania, Sardegna, Basilicata, Calabria, Sicilia, Valle d’Aosta, Emilia-Romagna), Portugal and the United Kingdom (Gibraltar).

1.          Objectives – These are:  territorial development and urban systems; structuring of the Mediterranean basin; development of economic, social and cultural links, access to the information society; promotion of the environment.

 

2.                   Financing – The co-financing available from the EU under the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for this Programme for the period 2000-2006 is €194 million (£120 million).   Gibraltar’s allocation for the Programme is some €0.85 million (£0.26 million).  Of this total, €0.42 (£0.26 million) is provided for by ERDF and a further €0.42 million (£0.26 million) is provided by the Government of Gibraltar.  (Using an exchange rate of £1 = €1.62).  The Programme does not include any private sector contributions, any funds levered-into the Programme would be additional to the public contribution.
