The department finances its operation
from Government funding, as with all other government departments.Every year, 'Draft Estimates of Expenditure and Revenue' for the financial
year (April 1st to March 31st), are laid out in the House of Assembly (the legislative
body empowered to pass all laws in Gibraltar).
An appropriation law is then passed by the 'House', which authorizes
the 'Controlling Officer' of each 'Head of Expenditure' to spend in each Financial Year,
the monies as shown in the 'Approved Estimates'.
The 'Controlling Officer' for the 'Estimates of Expenditure in this
department is the Director of Buildings and Works.
The Department is not a receiver of revenue.
