The Director of Civil Aviation (DCA) produces and makes public information in the form of Official Notices, Policies and Procedures.

Directions are issued to persons, either individually or generally, who are subject to the provisions of the Civil Aviation Act requiring them to do or refrain from doing something which the Minister or DCA may consider necessary for such person to comply with any provision of, or any condition, obligation or other requirement applicable to such person by or under the Act.  Directions are enforceable by law and if not complied with will result in penalties.

Notices are produced to promulgate decisions made by the Minister with responsibility for Transport concerning the activities of the DCA and decisions made by the DCA:

• Air Traffic Control Unit Approval
• Exemption 01/2009 – Carriage of Mode “S” Secondary Surveillance Radar Equipment
• Guidance on Approach Criteria for Gibraltar Airport

Policies are statements made by the DCA identifying how he will implement the duties and functions conferred on him by the primary and secondary Civil Aviation Legislation:

• Policy 03 – Withdrawn - replaced by Direction 01
• Policy 04 – Dangerous Goods
• Policy 05 - AAIB
